Guilford, Francis North, 1637-1685
Variant namesFrancis North, 1st Baron Guilford, British lawyer and statesman. Solicitor-General (1671), Attorney General (1673), Chief Justice (1675), Lord Keeper of the Great Seal (1682); knighted in 1671 and created Baron Guilford (1683). In 1668 North had helped with the settlement of the estate of Sir Thomas Pope, 3rd Earl Downe.
