Macpherson, Robert, 1815 or 1816-1872
Variant namesRobert Macpherson was a surgeon from Edinburgh, Scotland who moved to Italy to become a painter in the early 1840s; from 1851 onward, he became an innovator in architectural photography, producing mammoth plate photographs of Rome and Tivoli. He also produced art reproduction photographs of sculpture.
