Murray, William H. (William Henry), 1869-1956
Variant namesMurray, frequently known as Alfalfa Bill, had an illustrious career in Oklahoma territorial and state politics. He was a legal advisor to Chickasaw Governor Douglas H. Johnston, president of the Oklahoma Constitutional Convention, member of the Oklahoma State House of Representatives, 1907-1908, member of the U. S. House of Representatives, representing Oklahoma's Fourth District, 1913-1917, founder of an agricultural colony in Bolivia, 1919-1929, governor of Oklahoma, 1931-1934, national director of the Association for Economy and Tax Equality, 1935-1936, and author.
