Variant namesU.S. Congressman representing S.C.'s Sixth Congressional District in the House for for seventeen consecutive terms, 1939-1973; called the "Mayor of DC" in recognition of long service as chairman of the House Committee on the District of Columbia, 1945-1946, 1949-1952, 1955-1972; prior to his election to Congress, McMillan served as secretary for Sixth Congressional District Representative, Allard H. Gasque.
