Bede, Cuthbert, 1827-1889
Variant namesEdward Bradley [pseud. Cuthbert Bede], author and Church of England clergyman. He is best remembered for his Adventures of Mr. Verdant Green, first published in parts in the 1850's, which he also illustrated. The novel follows the exploits of a fictional undergraduate freshman at Oxford University, and spawned several sequels.
