Variant namesAmerican ichthyologist and naturalist born Williams, Arizona October 18, 1894. Received A.B. (1916) and A.M. (1917) degrees from Stanford and Ph. D. (1927) University of Michigan. After three years at the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago, Hubbs served as Curator of Fishes at Michigan's Museum of Zoology (1920-1944) and Professor of Biology at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD (1944-1969).
