McClintock, Emory, 1840-1916
Variant namesJohn Emory McClintock (1840-1916) was born in Carlisle, Pa. The son of Dickinson professor John McClintock, Emory attended one year of Dickinson College, transferring to Yale in 1856. His interest in mathematics led to a career as an actuary. He was a founding member of the Actuarial Society of America and the New York Mathematical Society.
