McCabe, James D., 1842-1883
Variant namesBiographical Note: James D. McCabe, American writer, was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1842.
He was educated at the Virginia Military Institute, served in the Confederate War Department, and began his writing career during the Civil War period. The war served as the theme of much of his work. After the war, McCabe continued his writing in Boston and New York. Some of his later works were published under the pseudonym, Edward Winslow Martin. McCabe died in Germantown, Pennsylvania in 1883.
