The Silver Spring Nursery School (SSNS) was founded in 1941. It grew out of a League of Women Voters Study Group. SSNS was initially based out of Takoma Park Elementary School, where 20 children were divided in classes for 3- and 4-year-olds. SSNS emphasizes a child-focused philosophy and parent education.
