Text in Russian by Count Arseny Golenischev-Kutuzov (1848-1912). No. 4 composed originally for voice and piano, 1877. Dedicated to the author of the text. Title of the 4-song cycle in Russian is: Pesni i pli︠a︡ski smerti. The 4th song bears the Russian title Polkovodets. In this transcription it is given the English title Marshall of Death, although the Russian word means simply Field-Marshall.--Cf. Fleisher Collection.
