Daniel Lindley (August 24, 1801-September 3, 1880) was an American missionary to South Africa. With his wife Lucy, the Lindleys founded the Inanda Seminary School in 1869. The son of the founder of Ohio University, Daniel Lindley studied there and at the Union Seminary in Prince Edward, Virginia, and was ordained by the Presbyterian Church. He married Lucy Virginia Allen in 1834, and they were sent by the American Board of Missions to South Africa, where they were first posted in Matabeleland. In 1842, Lindley led the founding congregation of the first Dutch Reformed Church, and in 1847, he established a station at Inanda. The Lindley family, including their eleven children, moved to the Inanda Mission in 1858. Lucy and Daniel Lindley retired in 1873 and retired to Morristown, New Jersey.
