Walter B. Jones was the son of Alabama governor (1890-1894) and U.S. District Judge, Thomas Goode Jones. Walter Jones was a member of the Alabama House of Representatives (1919-1920) and a circuit judge in Alabama (1920-1935). He was a columnist for the Montgomery Advertiser and a state commander of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. A dissident Democratic elector from Alabama cast one electoral vote for Jones for President of the United States in 1956.

Walter B. Jones was born 1888 Oct. 16 at Montgomery, Montgomery Co., Ala. He was the son of Thomas Goode and Georgena Carolina Bird Jones.

Jones was admitted to the bar in 1909. After holding other offices Jones was elected circuit judge of the fifteenth circuit in 1922, and reelected every six years into the 1950s.
