Variant namesBiographical note: A native of northern Kentucky, Eddie Arcaro was a prominent American jockey for thirty-one years until his retirement in 1961. He was the leading rider in terms of total money won in 1940, 1942, 1948, 1950, 1952, and 1955, and was the leading annual-stakes-winning jockey in 1940-1941, 1946, 1948, and 1950-1955. His total career winnings was $30,039,543, a record that stood until 1965.
