Detmold, Christian Edward, 1810-1887
Variant namesChristian Edward Detmold, 1810-1887, was a civil engineer born in Hanover, Germany. After an extensive career in the United States in railroads, iron manufacturing, foundation work on Fort Sumter, and work with the Crystal Palace of New York City in 1853, he spent much time in Europe for his health. While there he engaged in the writings of this collection.
