Commissioned by the Merry-Go-Rounders Ballet Company. Originally composed as a full ballet, scored for 2 pianos, 1963. First performance of ballet YMHA, New York, 30 December 1963, Merry-Go-Rounders Ballet Company with choreography by Sophie Maslow. These 2 movements orchestrated 1964. First performance of suite at the New York World's Fair, 1 September 1964, Ventnor Festival Orchestra, Russell Stanger conductor.
