Sears, Barnas, 1802-1880
Variant namesBarnas Sears was an American scholar and educator. He graduated from Brown and then Newton seminary, and served as pastor before becoming a professor at Hamilton College. He studied in Germany, and held several important positions in education in the states before becoming a popular and successful president of Brown University. He published many scholarly papers on religion, history, and education.
