Alma Zsolnay was a granddaughter of Alma Mahler. Zsolnay was the daughter of Anna Mahler (1904-1988) and Anna's third husband, Paul Zsolnay (1895-1961). Anna and Paul married in 1929 and divorced in 1935; after the divorce, Alma lived with her father, and was also cared for by her grandmother on her father's side, Amanda ("Andy") Zsolnay.
