Clarence Raymond Decker was born on December 19, 1904, in Sioux City, Iowa. He received his A.B. degree in 1925 from Carleton College, and his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago in 1928. Alfred Kreymborg was born in New York, grew up on the Lower East Side and later lived in Greenwich Village. He was a frequent contributor to "little" magazines and had frequent collections of his poetry published between 1916 and 1950.
