Engineering records, 1951-1983.

Atomic Energy Division records (AED) letters (1956-1968) contain memoranda and correspondence between reactor designers, engineers, quality control specialists, and construction supervisors which relate to design and construction of the reactors. Much of this material documents work in the separations area (200 buildings). Included are minutes of project design status meetings, engineering and architectural drawings, correspondence relating to the 1950 site survey, reactor studies and associated block diagrams, and records documenting various waste disposal projects.

Du Pont's Atomic Energy Division built and operated the Savannah River Plant near Aiken, S.C., to produce plutonium and tritium for the U.S. nuclear program.
