Poems and excerpts from authors such as Milton, Pope, Goldsmith, and Shakespeare, followed by tables outlining the descendants of Noah and the history of the Persian empire. Beginning from the end of the volume, 19 pages are devoted to a poem titled Palestine, a prize poem. Reginald Heber received Oxford's prize for English verse for this poem in 1803.
