Receipt book, 1812-1816.

Contains receipts for amounts paid by Joseph Clark to assorted vendors from 1812 to 1816. The majority of the entries note only the amount paid; however, such things as rent, taxes, fabrics, and articles of clothing are mentioned. Also interspersed are accounts for printing, bookbinding, etc. For example, on March 4, 1815, an entry states: "Received .... from Joseph Clarke 14 dollars for printing, coloured paper for backs, stitching, and trimming 1300 pamphlets entitled 'Faithfulness in Little Things'," signed by Isaac Griffith for Joseph Rakestraw. Benjamin and Thomas Kite were paid $30 for 2000 "Tracts in Prayer." Clark purchased paper by the ream as well as bindings. He purchased type from a man in Lancaster.
