Business correspondence of Robert G. Griswold, engineer and general manager of the Tonopah-Liberty Mining Company, relating to the establishment of the Tonopah-Liberty Mill and management of the Tonopah-Liberty gold mine. Includes applications for employment for various positions from men and women across the United States and Canada; communication and bills from suppliers of mining equipment, raw material and various services; permit approvals from the state of Nevada and from the United States Department of the Interior; and notices from other officers of the Tonopah-Liberty Mining Company which record the transfer of money. Correspondence relates Griswold's early attempts to establish a contract for cyanide extraction and purchase milling machinery for the mine, as well as his difficulties paying off debt accrued by former management.

The Alaska Public Works Program was authorized during the 81st Congress through the Alaska Public Works Act, Public Law 264.
