Letters, ca. 1830-1860.

Brief incidental correspondence in Chalon's hand (1830's to 1860), confirming appointments, declining invitations, offering a gift (an Irish book), promising a favor (arranging tickets to a Royal Academy event), clarifying a debt, and making other routine inquiries. Correspondents include Mr. David (1839), George Stanfield (1851), Miss Kirby (1860), Miss Roth (? - n.d.) and Mr. Ward (n.d.); four letters, one dated 1842 and the others undated, are to unspecified recipients. There is one undated New Year's card, signed by Chalon. Of interest is the 1839 letter to Mr. David, introducing an unspecified man with suspected artistic talent and asking that he be given "a situation."
