Letters received, ca. 1830-1850, by Henry Howard and Henry Vaughan.

Alphabetically arranged into two indexed autograph scrapbooks, the letters received include those from painters and architects including Frederick Barry, Edward Baseri, Edward Dalziel, Sir George Hayter, Lord Leighton, Frederick Nash, Samuel Palmer, Henry William Pickersgill, Sir George Richmond, Abraham Solomon, Thomas Uwins, Sir Richard Westmacott and David Wilkie. Generally, the collection consists of short notes submitting work for exhibition, or instructing the R. A. who to deliver purchased work to; specific works are named and exhibition numbers given. The volumes contain engraved portraits of artists and illustrations of their work. Also included are an engraving by Durer (1512), a group of engravings after Rembrandt, a watercolor bust portrait of John Dye, an engraving by Perignon and a watercolor after John Constable.
