Letter : Indian Territory, to Col. M. Lesser, 1862 Dec 6.

Manuscript copy by Ebenezer N. O. Clough of an ALS by H. V. Jones, Acting Delaware Indian Agent of the Confederate States of America located near Fort Cobb in present day Caddo County, Oklahoma. Jones writes to Colonel M. Lesser, also an Indian Agent of the C.S.A., informing him that he is assisting Confederate sympathizers from Pike's Peak, Colorado, after rescuing them from a group of Comanches. Jones also reports on the Delaware Indians' need for supplies. Clough, acting U. S. Indian agent for the Delawares, copied the letter and appended a note stating that he had received the original letter with other papers and correspondence from an Indian who had killed Lesser. Clough also states that he is acting agent as his superior, F. Johnson, has gone to look after his son who was killed in a recent battle. Accompanied by a typed transcript of the letter.
