Eight page holograph letter by a navy officer detailing scenes witnessed as part of Perry's expedition to Japan in 1854. He describes the Japanese reaction to the model train presented to the Emperor and Empress. He also describes a diplomatic feast and other events of the visit as well as the geography of Japan.
