Giulio Romano corpus. ca. 1950-ca. 1989.

The corpus of photographic prints documents the work of Italian architect and painter Giulio Romano. The photos are accompanied by matching negatives and slides, and by unpublished documentation comprising an extensive bibliography, a catalog, and an index of the catalogs of two exhibitions devoted to Giulio Romano (Mantua and Vienna, 1989). At the time it was assembled, the corpus was the most current visual record of the drawings attributed to Giulio Romano, his studio, and his immediate followers (some images were added subsequently as gaps were identified). In addition to the photos of drawings, other images reproduce Giulio Romano's paintings, and a group of 194 photos (with accompanying negatives and an architectural plan), made by Grazia Sgrilli in 1989, document the newly restored Sala degli stucchi.
