W.V. Iorns papers, 1879-1979.

The W. V. Iorns papers contain his original hydraulic investigations of water resources in Wyomimg, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado, weekly and monthly progress reports to the Geological Survey (1941-1962). There are his original reports of meetings with the Colorado, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming state representatives working out the details of the Bear River Compact (1947-1948), the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact, (1960-1961), and the Snake River Compact (1948-1949). There are his hydrologic and climatologic data reports on Salt Lake County, Utah and Colorado, (1963-1971). There are also "Historical Profiles of the Quality of Water Laboratories and Activities 1879-1979".

W.V. Iorns was a hydraulic engineer for the U. S. Geological Survey. He received a C.E. Degree from the University of Idaho in 1929 and a Professional C.E. Degree from the University of Idaho in 1959. He worked for the Geological Survey from 1931 to 1979. He was the project engineer of the hydraulic investigations on water resources of the Bear River Basin, the Upper Colorado River Basin, the Duchesne River Lower River drainage, and the Snake River.
