Utilization Review Committee minutes, 1971-1977.

Boston State Hospital and its predecessors were responsible for providing residential care and treatment for mentally ill persons in the metropolitan Boston area from 1839 to 1981. Utilization Review Committee minutes were created to record meetings of a committee comprised chiefly of nurses, doctors, and representatives from hospital administration, whose purpose was to assure high-quality patient care and effective and efficient utilization of hospital facilities, and to assist in the promotion and maintenance of quality care through analysis, review, and evaluation of clinical practices within the institution.
