Charles H. Jones was the founder of the Florida Times Union newspaper, originally known as the Florida Times. He is best known as the ghost writer for Bryan's 1892 Democratic Presidential platform, but turned down the nomination as Vice-President with the statement that he was not a politician, but just a country editor. The celebration of the 150th anniversary of the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Dartmouth College Case was held on April 9, 1969, in the Court of Claims, Washington, D.C.; the celebration also commemorated the career of Daniel Webster, the advocate who defended the case before the Supreme Court.
