William Edward Trenchard's essays in verse and prose, 1826-1827.

Collection comprises Trenchard's unpublished volume THE INQUIRER (309 pgs.) which contains his 48 essays written in prose and verse. Among the topics are religion, points of character, ethics, politics, feelings, women, language, nature, and philosophy. Passages often reference Greek and Latin text. Includes index with notations regarding chapters in prose or verse as well as his "Map of the human mind according to Kant" that is referenced in one of the essays. Acquired as part of the William B. Hamilton Collection of British Manuscripts.
