James G. Barnett scrapbook, 1845-1883.

Barnett was an English born musician who, when he came to Hartford, Connecticut, around 1845, was promptly name organist at the Center Church. He formed the Beethoven Society which gave numerous concerts at the church. This scrapbook, probably created by Barnett, contains fliers and programs from various concerts in Hartford and New Haven, and fliers advertising his teaching fees. Not only was a an organist but he was also a composer, choir director and composer of sacred music. Many of the fliers bear the imprint of local printers.
