Frank Dixon McCloy papers 1932-1968 [manuscript]

The collection is housed in four archival boxes and divided into three section: Biographical, Ministry and Research. Some materials are in German. The Biographical section, 1952-1968, includes correspondence with friends and colleagues, a resume, an employment application, news clippings and his own description of his life in a letter written to Boyd Crumrine Patterson, Washington and Jefferson College president at the time that McCloy received an honorary degree. A photograph of McCloy is included in this section. The Ministry section,1940-1967, includes handwritten sermons, many of which include the date and location of the sermon. The Research section,1930 through1960 includes notes, manuscripts of articles he wrote and lectures that he gave. A printed inventory is included in the first box.

Frank Dixon McCloy was a professor with expertise in the New Testament at the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and an interim Presbyterian minister at area congregations. He was born on March 18, 1910, to Frank D. McCloy, Sr. and Rosette Cole, in Pittsburgh, Pa. He began his lifelong association with the seminary when he taught New Testament Greek at the Western Theological Seminary while earning his Bachelor in Sacred Theology degree, which he earned in 1939.
