Unattributed scrapbook of clippings re textile mills and the cotton business in South Carolina, 1903-1905. Many clippings discuss the financial problems and reorganization of the Whaley Mills [which included the Olympia, Granby, and Richland Cotton Mills] and the Capital City Mills, all of Columbia, S.C.; the DeKalb and Camden Cotton Mills of Kershaw County, S.C.; the bankruptcy of William B. Smith Whaley; the adoption of a ten hour work day by textile mills in Union, S.C., in 1905; and the struggle for control of the Laurens Cotton Mills.
