Cruise 10, Summary of data collected from the R/V Ryan Chouest, July 25-28, 2010] [electronic resource] / [U.S. Dept. of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ; U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ; BP]. [2010]

Collection of documents and data online in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PDF, and PNG formats obtained during R/V Ryan Chouest cruise 10 for the NOAA Subsurface Monitoring Unit (SMU) activities related to the Deepwater Horizon incident response, July 25-28, 2010, Mississippi Canyon 252 area, Gulf of Mexico. Collection includes status reports, data reports, SMU data management documents, requirements, and guidance, including sample station locations maps, sample log, sample inventory, navigation logs, and equipment list. Products may include geospatial data files, maps, charts and/or data plots or graphs. Datasets associated with this cruise will be processed and published as they become available. Data also available via the National Oceanographic Data Center, Ocean Archive System (OAS) database, NODC Accession 0084585. Chemical oceanographic data were collected aboard the Ryan Chouest in the Gulf of Mexico from July 25-28, 2010 in response to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill event on April 20, 2010, by the Subsurface Monitoring Unit (SMU), which consisted of multiple government and corporate agencies. These data include Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) and fluorescence. The instruments used to collect these data included fluorometer and gas chromatograph along with other physical sampling devices. The Subsurface Monitoring Unit (SMU) was formed by US Federal Government Agencies NOAA and EPA working with BP as part of the coordinated response to the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill (MC252 incident) in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. The SMU coordinated DWH response data collection and sampling efforts across Academia, private and US Federal, State and International agencies and scientists. The goal of the data collection and sampling efforts was to support comprehensive characterization of the Gulf of Mexico sub-surface conditions as well as the fate and transport of dispersed petroleum as a result of the Deep Water Horizon oil spill.
