William Kidd (b. 1654, Dundee, Scotland-d. 23 May 1701, Wapping, England) was also known as Captain William Kidd or Captain Kidd and infamous pirate. In December 1699 the British Admiralty dispatched the Advice frigate under Captain Robert Wynn to Boston to collect the captured pirate William Kidd ("Captain Kidd") and return him, his papers, and a treasure chest to London for trial. The Advice made a quick trip through rough winter seas, arrived in Boston February 2, 1700, and returned to England with the prisoner in early April.
