Personal records of Erling H. Kolloen, such as daily logs, household accounts, and legal documents; also documents collected by Kolloen to write genealogies of the Kolloen and Sjolseth families as well as paper inherited from other members of the family. Legal documents, publications, and correspondence brought from Norway are all written in Norwegian as well as letters received by Erling's sister Gertrude Nelson from family members in Norway. Of particular importance are documents and letters reflecting the life in Alaska of Henry and Inga Kolloen, illustrating the hardships of the Klondike Gold Rush. The collection as a whole provides insight into the lives of Norwegian immigrants.
