The bells in the tower of Lowell House are from the Donailov Monestary in Russia. The largest weighs thirteen and one-half tons and is nine feet in diameter. They were a gift of a Mr. Crane, a former ambassador to the U.S.S.R. He saved them from being melted down for scrap metal during the interval between the World Wars.
