Karl Wolfgang Deutsch (1912-1992) was a Harvard professor of government and a pioneer in applying mathematics and the techniques of cybernetics to the study of politics. He was born in Prague and graduated from the German University there in 1934. He received a law degree in 1938 from Charles University in Prague, where he was a leader of anti-Nazi students.
