Arthur J. Johnson scrapbook, 1940-1945, undated.

This collection contains materials from a scrapbook kept by Arthur J. Johnson while serving with Headquarters, 2nd Battalion, 341st Infantry Regiment, 86th Infantry Division during World War II. Preservation photocopies were made to record the original order of the deteriorating scrapbook and are located at the beginning of the box for reference, ahead of the original materials removed from the scrapbook. The scrapbook contains personal holiday cards and correspondence between Johnson and his wife, Clarice, as well as postcards, temporary promotion documents, and photographs taken while on leave in California.

Corporal (CPL) Arthur James Johnson was ordered by Selective Service to report for duty with the United Sates (U.S.) Army at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, on 26 January 1943. He was assigned to Headquarters, 2nd Battalion, 341st Infantry Regiment, 86th Infantry Division. After basic training, Johnson was stationed at Camp Howe, Louisiana.
