Reed analyzes the negative stereotypes that missionaries and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints apply to female "sister" missionaries. She finds that male missionaries and the majority of Church members have very sexist attitudes toward female missionaries, and that they regard many of these missionaries as being overly sensitive, unnecessary, socially unacceptable, or burdensome.
