The Collection on William Destler contains announcements, press releases, and invitations regarding the inauguration of Destler as the ninth president of RIT in 2007. Also included are memoranda sent to staff and promotional materials related to the Imagine RIT Festival. Destler instituted the Imagine RIT Festival in 2008. This campus-wide event showcases the innovative and creative spirit of RIT students, faculty and staff and allows visitors to experience the breadth and depth of RIT through interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations, exhibitions, and research projects set up throughout campus. The Collection on William Destler includes memoranda, invitations, and promotional materials. Destler became RIT's ninth president in 2007.

It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute. There are several other instances of African American students attending the school during the early 20th century as well...
