Family correspondence, 1886-1887.

Group of letters related to the experiences of Estabrooke Moore, who had moved from northern New York State to Ivesdale, Illinois, and then to southern California. The letter were apparently addressed to his sister. Also includes letters from Eliza Taylor of Boston, Massachusetts, who is identified as an aunt.

Eli Taylor of Cincinnati, Ohio published The Family Magazine, a small monthly, was also for a time publisher of the anti-Catholic and anti-slavery Cincinnati Journal. Judge James Hall who had done active service in the war of 1812 was a lawyer, judge, treasurer of the State of Illinois, and an editor of several newspapers and magazines.
