Robert Macon's renderings of RIT Henrietta campus buildings includes both original artwork and reproductions. The collection contains two watercolor paintings of building exteriors (1989). These are reproduced in color photographs as well. Two pencil drawings depict the RIT chapel interior and the quarter-mile (1982) and are also reproduced in two black and white copies. Contains renderings of RIT Henrietta campus buildings, circa 1982-1989, created by Robert Macon of Macon/Chantreuil Architects.

It is unclear when the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) first admitted minority students. However, it appears as though the first African American students entered the Rochester Athenaeum and Mechanics Institute (renamed RIT in 1944) during the early 1900s. For instance, in 1906 Fredericka Sprague, the granddaughter of Frederick Douglass, took classes at the Institute. There are several other instances of African American students attending the school during the early 20th century as well...

Robert Macon was a founding partner of Macon/Chantreuil, now Chantreuil/Jensen/Stark, an architectural firm. The firm created several buildings on the RIT Henrietta campus: Kilian J. and Caroline F. Schmitt Interfaith Center, E. Philip Saunders College of Business, Wallace Library addition, and the Bausch and Lomb Center.
