Dickens indicates his agreement with Mr. Simpson's preference to have the performance before Macready's appearance. Explains that it is difficult to send an exact cast list for Merry wives of Windsor "because if Leech should still be unable to come, I shall play Slender, and somebody else will act my present part of Shallow."
