Marie Powers (Cornell University Class of 1924) was an operatic singer and actress. She was chosen by Arturo Toscanini for a series of Wagner operas at La Scala in Milan. After returning to the United States in 1940, she spent six years touring with the San Carlo Opera Company. In 1946 Gian Carlo Menotti chose her to play the lead in his opera THE MEDIUM.
