Booklets, possibly kept by the court clerk, in which were recorded the proceedings and judgment of various cases heard in the Court of Common Pleas. Most of the cases involved debts, loans or non-payment of funds. Joseph Clark vs. Sullivan Barnes claimed Barnes failed to support his wife. Another case, Samuel E. Chamberlain vs. Alexander Hurbison involved the work of prisoners. There were also cases about cutting off water, trespass, false imprisonment, and a case of habeas corpus. The collection also includes notes and reports of speeches delivered in Congress relating to the tariff, and an essay on government in the United States. The tariff-related items include a report by Roger Q. Mills, Texas Democrat, to the Ways and Means Committee, and a speech by Samuel Jackson Randall.
