Extensive descriptions of events and sights with dated entries, some very brief, that include weather observations and latitude and longitude coordinates. The journey begins at Albany, N.Y. on the steamship Issac Newton to New York City, N.Y. where they board the clipper ship Sovereign of the Seas. He gives details of an arduous journey that includes several encounters between the captain and crew members some of whom are whipped in front of the passengers and are kept in irons.The last journal entry is for Nov. 14, "This we hope is the last Sunday at sea."
