Autograph letter signed : [London], to Mrs. Hewitt, 1858 Apr. 1.

Asking her for an account "of the last occasion on which you were grateful to anybody for what cost them nothing?" saying that "it is a very sad sight to me to think that my fellow creatures feminine are so entirely shut out from all that lovely world which I can see--and that their emotions depend so pitifully on the display of what they suppose to be cleverness--but I shouldn't mind that--if only they could see something."
