In addition to the regular business before the Abilene District Assembly, these minutes include committee reports on education, foreign missions, ministerial support, rescue and orphanage work, young peoples' societies, temperance and prohibition, and deaconess work. They also contain a roll and directory of ministers, and lists of ordained elders, licensed preachers, and authorized evangelists. Rev. and Mrs. J. P. Roberts and Rev. and Mrs. John F. Roberts, all of Pilot Point, Texas, and Rev. J. T. Upchurch of Arlington, Texas, played a prominent role in the assembly proceedings.

The Church of the Nazarene is a religious denomination whose foundation is rooted in the uniting of many churches, most specifically those from the Holiness and Pentecostal traditions. Although the Church of the Nazarene was founded at a local level in 1895, a meeting in 1908 between the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene and the Independent Holiness Church is considered the official establishment of the Pentecostal Church of the Nazarene as a national organization.
